JOHNSON’S® launches upgraded Milk+Rice range through Powerville, providing #PoweredUpProtection for growing babies

Many parents consider their babies turning one year old a milestone to be celebrated. It marks their entry into a new age and stage in their childhood– the toddler stage. This stage is especially exciting for first-time parents– as they witness a lot of firsts in their babies’ growth and development. Toddlers in this stage of development are significantly more mobile compared to when they were infants. These growing babies are now able to crawl, climb, and even begin to walk, leaving parents trailing behind and worried about their baby’s skin. Babies’ skin is one of the causes of concern as they become more adventurous because their toddlers are now beginning to encounter different surfaces with the uncertainty of how their skin would react. With this, moms are looking for the best way to provide the protection their babies’ developing skin needs.

JOHNSON’S® Baby, as the leading brand for childcare products, provides the best solution for protecting growing babies’ skin through its newly upgraded Milk+Rice Bath and Lotion. The reformulation calls for 100% more milk proteins and real rice extracts that protect, so when used together, both Bath and Lotion create a gentle layer of protection on baby’s skin against skin microdamage– which is characterized by dryness causing redness and irritation. The company launched the reformulation of the Milk+Rice Bath and Lotion through its campaign, #PoweredUpProtection, which centers around the kulit-likot phase of toddlers and growing babies. The campaign features celebrity mombassador Anne Curtis and her daughter Dahlia, who both  appeared in their first TV Commercial with JOHNSON’S® Baby.

The campaign launched with its virtual event called the JOHNSON’S® Milk+Rice Powerville that unveiled and celebrated the reformulated range with our partner Mombassador communities, media partners, as well as the public‑--it was the brand’s first ever activation of its kind. Crismer Tiria, senior marketing manager at Johnson & Johnson Philippines Inc., remarked, “Our team was excited to open the gates to JOHNSON’S® Milk+Rice Powerville. We wanted the brand to adapt to how events are done these days to still reach our audiences who are mostly staying at home.”

Anne was able to share her excitement for the campaign and the launch event itself, “I couldn’t be happier when I learned that I would be taking part in my JOHNSON’S® family’s first virtual event of its kind. I hope that all my fellow moms were able to know more about how they can best take care of their little ones and of course, had fun.”

Guests were able to explore the different spots in the digital town from their personal devices. Among the spots of Powerville was the Pavilion, where they were able to watch celebrity mombassador Anne Curtis engaging in a dialogue with head of Scientific Engagement for Baby Care APAC Robert Kwon, and Dr. Marivi Dizon, a pediatric dermatologist. They talked about the importance of providing the #PoweredUpProtection toddlers need, as well as letting the audience know more about the upgraded Milk+Rice formula.

Robert Kwon explained the motivation behind the new formula, “Johnson’s Baby has always been the leading brand for baby care because of our efforts to innovate and improve our products. We constantly conduct studies and research to make sure that our products are the best quality and designed for babies. Our highlight product for today, the new Johnson’s Milk+Rice contains 100% more milk proteins than the previous product, that can help nourish skin, plus real rice extracts that can help protect.” He introduced the Milk+Rice products as the solution to combatting the common threats of skin microdamage, while Dr. Marivi explained more about what these are. “Skin microdamage means that there is an effect on babies’ skin coming from impact or friction, even if we don’t visibly see the damage on their skin. As the term suggests, this is more evident when we look closely on a tissue level or under a special microscope. This can differ for every baby. For some, this can look like red patches on their knees or elbows because of crawling. Some babies also experience this as having flaky and dry skin from the lack of moisturization. There are also other cases that manifest irritation through rashes.”

Moms were also able to experience various fun activities found in different booths, such as the Play Area and Mom & Baby Photobooth. They visited the Neighbormoms area and heard what their fellow moms had to say about the new Bath and Lotion and the kulit-likot stage. The event also made purchasing the new product more convenient and accessible as e-commerce platforms were linked.

JOHNSON’S® Baby senior marketing manager Crismer Tiria expressed his gratitude to all the loyal consumers and guests present at the event. “On behalf of our team, I would like to thank everyone for joining us at JOHNSON’S® Baby Milk+Rice Powerville. I am so excited for mothers and parents to see what we have in store for the rest of the campaign, and hope that their unwavering support to the JOHNSON’S® Baby brand continues on.”

The upgraded JOHNSON’S® Milk+Rice Bath and Lotion are available in J&J PH Chat & Shop,  all leading supermarkets, and official Johnson & Johnson Shopee and Lazada accounts. Philippine universities get ready to face off at first-ever virtual EU Whiz: Filipino Youth of the FEUture

EU Whiz: Filipino Youth of the FEUture

Philippine universities get ready to face off at first-ever virtual EU Whiz: Filipino Youth of the FEUture

Colleges and universities across the Philippines are set to gear up for the much-anticipated EU Whiz: Filipino Youth of the FEUture—an annual inter-collegiate competition spearheaded by the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to the Philippines

Since 2006, the EU Whiz has been a fun and exciting way for Filipino students to showcase their knowledge and understanding of the EU and EU-Philippine relations.

“The EU and the Philippines have enjoyed a strong and mutually beneficial partnership for many years now,” said EU Ambassador to the Philippines Luc Véron. “The EU Whiz is a fun and exciting way for a new generation of Filipino youth to rediscover the ties and common history that bind our people together. It also introduces them to the EU, its institutions and our partnership with the Philippines.”

Apart from the quiz, the EU Whiz: Filipino Youth of the FEUture has been expanded to include two more events—the “My Space, My Rights” video competition, and the “Green ECO I See” digital art competition. This year also marks the first time that all events will be held online as a result of the pandemic.

“The EU has always been passionate about celebrating the inherent talent and creativity of young Filipinos,” said Ambassador Véron. “Given the current restrictions, we have decided to bring the competition to the virtual stage in the hopes of engaging even more students and universities across the country.”

All three competitions are open to bonafide Filipino students currently enrolled in Philippine universities for Academic Year 2021. Interested students must form a group of three members to participate. Cool gadgets and exclusive EU Whiz items await the winning teams.

Online submission of applications will run from March 17 to May 1, 2021. The competition will culminate in a virtual awarding ceremony to be livestreamed on the Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines Facebook page on June 26, 2021. Full mechanics and details for all three competitions are available at https://eeas.europa.eu/philippines or https://euwhizfyf2021.engage.eu/. Competition updates will also be posted on the official social media pages of the Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines (Facebook: @EUDelegationToThePhilippines, Twitter: @EUinthePH, and Instagram: @euinthephilippines).

As part of the activities, the general public will also be enjoined to participate in The MorEU Know—a weekly social media trivia on general EU facts.

Starting April 2021, a Question of the Week will be posted on the official Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines Facebook page. Audiences can comment on the posts with the correct responses for a chance to win cool gadgets and accessories courtesy of the Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines.

1st Virtual National Trade officially opens

Ramon Lopez, Secretary of Department of Trade and Industry

1st Virtual National Trade officially opens

The 1st Virtual National Trade Fair was officially opened on Wednesday, January 27, through an online ceremony. Attendees from remote locations witnessed the event on the website virtualnationaltradefair.dti.gov.ph and on social media channels.

In his keynote address, Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez lauded the Filipino "bouncebackability" to endure extreme hardship by finding silver linings and hidden blessings in adversity. In addition to citing brighter economic prospects for 2021, Sec. Lopez also noted the DTI's role as a primary economic catalyst, saying: "Today's opening of this Virtual National Trade Fair is part of the Department's pivot to digital, and very much in keeping with the buzzwords in our mission statement, which are: innovative, competitive, job-generating, inclusive, and empowering."

Meanwhile Undersecretary Abdulgani Macatoman of the Trade Promotions Group pointed out that the domestic trade fairs carry a rich tradition of success for MSMEs, noting that in 2019, the three fairs organized that year had 115,000 visitors and generated PHP 193.44-million in revenues for 782 exhibitors.

Further, Usec. Macatoman noted that the Virtual National Trade Fair represents a move to the online world, in keeping with the demands of the times, saying: "Through this digital transformation, we are taking the initiative so our MSMEs can continue to expand their market presence not just in the domestic market but now in the borderless online marketplace."

For her part, Undersecretary Blesila Lantayona of the Regional Operations Group struck an upbeat note in her inspirational message, noting: "2021 holds much promise as we kick off the year with an event that we hope will give our MSMEs the much-needed boost to jumpstart their recovery. Moreover, bringing the National Trade Fair to the digital realm serves as another significant milestone for our MSMEs as they establish their market presence on an e-commerce platform. This opens up a world of possibilities, as our MSMEs become more accessible not only to domestic consumers but also to international buyers."

Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotion Director Marievic Bonoan emphasized the B2B nature of the event as a venue to showcase the best products from the regions so MSMEs can secure bulk orders from institutional buyers from department stores, supermarket chains, hotels and restaurants, and even export consolidators.  Product categories include fashion accessories and wearables, food and beverages, gifts and souvenirs, health and wellness, and home and living.

From January 27 to February 2, 2021, the Virtual National Trade Fair will be accessible online 24/7. On the first four days of the fair from January 27 to January 30, exhibitors will man their booths virtually during show hours from 10AM to 6PM. At that time, visitors can do real-time chats, meetings, and video calls. Beyond show hours and in the following days from January 31 to February 2, visitors can continue to visit the booths anytime and leave a message for the exhibitor.

Kiana V Shares the Stories Behind Her Hits in Exclusive Meet & Greet on Globe Virtual Hangouts

Kiana V during the Exclusive Meet & Greet on Globe Virtual Hangouts

Kiana V Shares the Stories Behind Her Hits in Exclusive Meet & Greet on Globe Virtual Hangouts

Last December 3, Paradise Rising artists Kiana V, Fern, Jason Dhakal, Massiah, and Leila Alcasid performed alongside 88rising artists and other global acts on the Double Happiness Winter Wonder Festival featured on Globe Virtual Hangouts. This is the inaugural event of the newest concert platform that aims to showcase the best of Asian talents, Eastern Standard Time.

In line with this, Virtual Hangouts invited Kiana V for an exclusive Double Happiness Festival online meet and greet where she shared how the experience performing in the online fest was plus some never before told stories about her hit songs. Lucky fans also got to ask her their personal questions and even received surprise giveaways!

About performing in the Double Happiness Winter Wonder Festival
Kiana described the experience as “thrilling” especially having to work with an amazing crew for the show. “I hadn’t performed outside of my bedroom for a very long time. It kinda made me a little anxious at the start knowing that I’ll be in front of a professional crew where I have to get all dressed up and perform for more than just my camera,” she added. “I’m excited for this crazy pandemic to blow over, because it’s really so much fun to work with different people and that was what I enjoyed the most.”

To get ready for her performance, Kiana had to go back to doing her vocal exercises religiously and mentally prepare herself. “It was really a lot of mental preparation that went into it, reminding myself that ‘it’s back to work’ and being open to collaboration and feedback.”

Stories behind the hits
During the meet and greet, Kiana played a little game of spin the wheel with the host  where she had to share a trivia or a fun fact behind each song that the wheel will land on. Here’s some of our favorites:

Corners started as poetry that Kiana wrote while on a flight to Malaysia. Eventually, she found herself in California with some friends where she started singing the then poem over music. “It just fit so well so we decided that we’re going to work together and make it a full song.”

When it comes to her collaboration with Filipino-Aussie artist and producer Billy Davis, No Rush, Kiana originally envisioned to be an ethereal, RnB ballad type of song, but after working on it with Billy in the studio, it had turned out to be the upbeat and danceable track that we all love. She noted that this is one of the things that she loves about working with producers in the studio, because you’ll never know where they will take you.

On the shooting of the Safe Place music video, Kiana shared that despite it being a crazy and worrisome time in California due to the rising COVID-19 cases, the 88rising and Paradise Rising teams were so collaborative and quick to send inspiration and moodboards. The play on different fabrics as seen on the video is the director’s idea to convey how something so beautiful can also be suffocating. It’s thinking that you have found your safe place but in the end, it’s not as safe as you think.

What’s next for Kiana V?
