SM Earth Hour 2019 at SM City Sta Mesa

SM CITY STA. MESA’s creative installation shined brightest as the mall turned off lights at exactly 8:30PM. The centerpiece was filled with different commitments made to save the Earth and the environment. – reduce food waste, save water, conserve energy, shop locally, go car-free.

To celebrate Earth Hour Campaign, SM CITY  STA. MESA invited different entrepreneurs to share their vision and mission on how to #Connect2Earth.

Monnick Cruz from Silent Beads is eager to create beautiful beads, seed papers, and other crafts that grow into plants after use.- all from paper wastes. Anne Yee of JACINTO & LIRIO (meaning “Hyacinth” and “Lily”), is a social enterprise that transforms a “pest” into eco-iconic and multi-functional leather goods sustainably made from water hyacinth, with a mission to empower affected families by the water hyacinth infestation problem through livelihood generation. Jacinto & Lirio provides beautifully handcrafted plant leather goods which are impressively multifunctional yet stylish conversational-pieces with a lifestyle appeal for professionals and companies who wants to create a strong patriotic, environmental and socio-ethical statement. Mark Joseph Laceste from Bambuhay is set to lead the way in sustainable business by creating inclusive and eco-friendly solutions to heal the planet and build opportunities through empowering marginalized communities.

In your own way, how will you save the Earth? Commitment boxes were made in order to see the most numbered and favorable way to save the Earth. Shoppers and attendees from the Earth Hour campaign filled these boxes and all blushed in different colors as time turned 8:30PM. - use reusable straws, use of eco bags, plant trees, eat organic food, join sustainability groups.

Colorguards from Far Eastern University glowed in their performance as they hyped up the event.

I am afraid of the dark.
But this kind of "Lights Out"... I'm not afraid and is proud to be part of.

Let's do our share to save Mother Earth.
